Luxemburg’s Benji LaCrosse passed De Pere’s Dean Maurer with two laps to go to win the caution free, 20 lap IMCA modified feature at Seymour Speedway Sunday night.

A season high 170 cars showed up to race, including 25 late models, 29 IMCA modifieds, 31 stock cars, 30 northern sportmods, 28 street stocks and 27 4 bangers.

Front row starter Maurer appeared headed for victory, as the veteran quickly sped away from the field. By the race’s halfway point, Maurer had nearly a full straightaway lead. But LaCrosse, the defending track champion, started 12th and quickly whittled his way into fourth by lap 11.

LaCrosse drove the high line around Maurer on lap 18 and cruised to victory. Maurer hung on for second in his best finish of the year. Pulaski’s Jason Czarapata, Little Suamico’s Sean Jerovetz and Oconto Falls’ Lance Arneson placed third through fifth, respectively.

Gillett’s Kyle Frederick captured the caution free, 20 lap IMCA stock car feature. Trailing Frederick at the line was current points leader Shawn Wagner of Seymour, Seymour’s Harley Simon who posted his best finish of the year in third, Pulaski’s Devin Snellenberger and Suamico’s Kyle Wanner.

Kewaunee’s Brad Theys earned his IMCA northern sportmod victory the hard way. The second year driver battled his way into the 20 lap main by winning the semi feature. Theys started 16th on the grid and clawed his way into the top five by lap 12. Theys caught Seymour’s Rod Solem, who was leading from lap 13, and nipped him at the line by a bumper. Solem hung on for second place money, followed by De Pere’s Johnny Whitman, Black Creek’s Chad Guyette and Green Bay’s Troy Jerovetz.

Wagner came out swinging, fending off Shiocton’s Barry Van Straten, Gillett’s Kyle Frederick and Pulaski’s Rod Snellenberger in the final 10 laps to win the IMCA stock car feature. You could have thrown a blanket under the top three as they crossed the finish line, with Van Straten and Frederick taking second and third, respectively. Snellenberger nabbed fourth after having to fight his way into the feature by placing second in a semi feature. Green Bay’s Andy Kornowski rounded out the top five finishers.

Gillett’s Kyle Frederick followed suit, winning his heat and fending off arch rivals John Heinz of Green Bay and Pulaski’s Rod Snellenberger to win the 20 lap IMCA stock car feature and his heat, garnering a sweep for the night.

A total of 137 cars showed up to race, including 28 IMCA modifieds, 30 stock cars, 29 northern sportmods, 27 street stocks and 24 4 bangers.

Deau took the lead at the drop of the green in the IMCA mod feature, while LaCrosse started 11th. LaCrosse had clawed his way to second by lap 10, and wasted no time in reeling in Deau. LaCrosse muscled inside of Deau with six laps to go and sped away to victory. Deau hung on for second. Seymour’s Mike Mullen nipped Green Bay’s Chris Engels at the line for third. Seymour’s Brian Mullen rounded out the top five.

Frederick waged a see-saw battle with Snellenberger in the waning laps, and wound up breaking Shawn Wagner’s four-in-a-row win streak. Heinz took second followed by Snellenberger, Wagner and Luxemburg’s Bill Kelsey.

De Pere’s Johnny Whitman ducked underneath Shawano’s Tracy Wassenberg for the lead on lap four and fought off a late challenge by Wassenberg in the final two laps to collect his first, 20 lap IMCA northern sportmod feature win. Wassenberg settled for second at the checkers, followed by Hortonville’s Travis Van Straten, Green Bay’s Troy Jerovetz and Beaver Dam’s Jeff Schmuhl. Paul Parker took the lead on lap 14 from Troy Springborn and never looked back, picking up the $1,250 Late Model purse at Seymour Super Speedway. Other feature winners from the Summer Holiday Classic were; Mike Mullen (mods), Shawn Wagner (stockcar), Troy Jerovetz (sport mod), Aaron Melchert (street stock) and Josh Mroczkwoski (four-cylinders).

Troy Springborn would set the pace early in the Late Model feature, that’s when Paul Parker would make a play for the lead on lap 12, charging up from his seventh place starting spot. The duo would run door to door for the next two laps before Parker would take command of the race. Parker would enter heavy lap traffic with 5 laps to go and Terry Anvelink would close the gap but it was to little to late as Parker would cash in and take the win ahead of Anvelink. Nick Anvelink would come from his 20th starting position to place third. Springborn would sette for fourth, and Justin Ritchie would cross the checkers fifth.

Second generation racer Mike Mullen would pass relative Scott Mullen and win the feature, taking home a cool $600.
